Ah shit

Warning: This entry contains a lot of talk about poo. Not my poo, but poo none the less. You have been warned, so don't come gagging to me.

There is something very wrong about a stranger having a poo in your bathroom. A wee is acceptable, but poo'ing in some poor unexpected bugga's bowl is wrong, not right, very wrong.

First thing this morning a bloke came to service my boiler, (it's been years since my boiler was serviced, heh har har he.... ahem). He was polite, intelligent, chatty and pretty dam fine to look at, so much so infact, that I couldn't look him in the eye and felt myself start to blush when I forced myself. (I am pathetically shy when it comes to men, honestly, it's just embarrassing).

On his way out, he asked to use the bathroom, I was a little surprised because my flat isn't very big and I sit pretty much opposite the door. Most people wouldn't feel comfortable relieving themselves whilst a total stranger is practically sat on their lap, but you know, that's fine, no problem. When he hadn't reappeared after five minutes, the realization began to dawn on me that, oh my god, is he having a shit in my flat?! 7 minutes.... 9 minutes........... *flush*........... 11 minutes...... 14 minutes. Oh my god, he's died, all that straining gave him a heart attack, or maybe he passed a really huge tape worm and is trying to stuff it into his back pocket!

Eventually, I heard him washing his hands and started to panic about how I was going to handle the embarrassment of, 'I know you just dropped the kids off at the pool and you know that I know you just dropped the kids off at the pool and how are we going to get past that awkward moment'. So, like a pro, I started to cough, a lot, so that by the time he had made it to the door to leave, the awkward void had been filled. Bingo.

And then the curiosity kicked in. I want to go and look. I need to check. I should check, just incase he stole my antibacterial hand wash or something. So I did and I was outraged. I will spare you the details, but lets just say that air freshener, half a bottle of bleach and multiple flushes were involved and I have honestly not eaten a thing all day, I just can't, infact you should see me trying to control the throat reflexes right now, it ain't pretty.

So you see service men of the world, next time you get the urge, lie. Tell the customer you have to pop home to get a part, or that you have to come back later. Go and find a public toilet, a bush, anything, cos as much as you may think so, it's just not nice to leave a present in a stranger's bowl. Nasty.

When drugs are cool

Since Wednesday night last week, my leg has been in spasm, this isn't a rare occurrence, but normally I get a few hours break inbetween episodes, but the last week it has been relentless.

The problem is, (aside from the pain, because hell I'm used to that, cos I is 'ard as nails), that my Baclofen dose has been doubled. Baclofen makes you stoned, well, to be fair, all my meds make me stoned, but doubling the dose overnight is kind of drastic and my body will take a while to handle it, but until that happens, I continue to make Courtney Love look like Fraulein Maria.

Things I have done due to being 'off me ead'

1. Dramatically wallop half a litre bottle of coke over, covering the wall, carpet and chair cover.
2. Walk into the door frame mutiple times.
3. Spray Oust Neutrauliser under my arm.
4. Drop my mobile phone into the toilet bowl.
5. Shampoo my hair with Femfresh 'Intimate' wash. Twice.
6. Left all my windows wide open during gales and torrential rain
7. Burnt a cigarette hole through my dressing gown.
8. Put the ashtray in the bin after emptying the ash into a sink full of water.

But on the plus side, for the first time in 8 months, I have been able to conduct a conversation with Rachel's, daughter's, boyfriend, (keep up), who is a 16 year old emo goth with issues, and actually felt I was on his wave length. We are momentarily bonded together by our deep warped angst.

Conversation on messenger this evening.

Bootstrap: If you could invent a colour, what would you call it and what would it look like?

Jilly: It would be called Foofoss and it would resemble a silvery red colour

B: Interesting

J: Elementary

B: Rather similar to the reason a duck doesn't echo

J: Indeed, and then of course, there was Freud

B: Penis envy

J: There's no flies on you

B: Exactly

J: Also rather like that gorgeous quaint public house in
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

B: Yes, I hear of rave reviews, although apparently the scallops are rather moist

J: For who is to say a scallop can not be as moist as is thought necessary?

B: SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS?

J: Well quite

I could be trailer trash

I am well aware that my posts have been somewhat 'unbelievable' lately. I can hear you thinking, "pfftt, that Jilly will invent ANYthing to have something interesting to write about, no-one has THAT much drama in their life, let alone a middle aged hermit who has guinea pigs as children", but I swear, all of it is true and actually, I am leaving a hell of a lot of stuff out that's going on right now, like the situation with my brother's divorce, which includes who's sleeping with whom and how a whole bunch of people are spreading shit about my parents. Ricki Lake anyone?

The point is, all this stuff is unbelievable to me too, I mean if I WANTED a soap opera I would turn on the TV. But in comparison, Eastenders is just soo lame. That said, I have yet another 'situation' going on that I want to share, seriously, the boundaries of bizarreness in my world just get bigger and bigger .

The flat below me has been empty for 6 years, the last owner was a guy named Gary whom I was really friendly with, but who unfortunately, was killed in a motorbike accident whilst I was in spinal rehab, (see, more drama!). I kind of knew something was going on when a lot of work was being done in the flat recently, so on Friday morning, when a couple moved in, surprised I was not.

That afternoon, the guy was cleaning his car right below my lounge window and me, having a genetic case of noseyitis (what? It is SO a disease!), loitered by the window in an attempt to size up the newbies. I guessed the guy was in his early fifties, which pleased me no end as 'that age' range tends to be pretty quiet and considerate, which infact they have proven to be.

Just as I was about to move away his wife came out and started up a conversation with him in a language that was not English. Not only was the language not English, but it was one of those fast talking, highly animated, shouting pitch types. Now I am pretty good at recognising most languages, but had no idea at all which one this was, but concluded that they are more than likely Eastern European, probably polish, as we have had a huge amount of polish families move into this area in the last year that have been employed by the local slaughter house. (Do you know how many lorry loads of cows begging me to save them I encounter daily?)

Now before I go any further, I want to make it known that I have NO problem whatsoever with living above a polish couple, or infact a couple of any nationality. All I have encountered have been nothing but polite, respectful and hard working. I have my own ideas about the current hot topic in Britain of "far too many immigrants taking our jobs and housing", but those views stay firmly with myself.

Anyway, later on in the day, after awakening from my current drug induced coma (another story!), I smelt something 'unusual' in the air and on opening the bathroom door, I was literally smacked in the face by the most powerful, gag worthy stench my nostrils have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I literally shrieked and slammed the door shut in disgust, desperately trying to concentrate on not puking all over my 100% Axminster wool carpet. "What the hell" I gasped "I have never smelt anything like THAT before, could that be the odour of thousands of mummified kippers?".

Now I probably need to explain, that my bathroom has no window, just has an extractor fan that shares a pipe coming up from the bathroom below, which I am pretty used too, I could guess at how many pints of liquid Gary had drunk during the day, by timing how long his echoy pee was, not to mention hearing him snore during the night, not that he actually slept in the bathroom, but hey, sound travels, that's science for ya.

Although the stench had already drifted into the entire flat, I thought it best to venture back into the bathroom, where it was at 'knock over' strength, to try and figure out exactly the cause. Cutting a long story short, it took me a number of tries of holding my breath and reluctantly entering, whilst willing my brain to "fucking hurry up and register what the smell is so I can hot foot it out of here before my windpipe ruptures".

Eventually, I realised that it must be some kind of polish cooking, I have no idea what the polish cook, all I do know is that it is wrong and entails far too much garlic and probably catfood. I tried desperately to get rid of the smell using shed loads of neutralizing spray. I had scented candles burning in every room, squirted lemon juice like it was holy water, but all to no avail. I eventually became too tired and drugged to try anymore and retired to bed. I may or may not have been wearing a decorators mask.

I would like to say this hasn't occurred again, but it seems that the polish really like their polish food. It also seems they like to come home at lunchtime and reheat polish food, before preparing yet another polish meal in time for a scrummy, lip slapping polish evening dinner. All this polish is killing me, my flat now has that well known permanent aroma of the original nasty smell, intermingled with the sweet artificial floral spray smell. It's like living in a rundown public loo and I just can't live with it. I'm ringing up housing in the morning to chase up my case. It's just not on, not only do I have druggy neighbours, I now have over zealous garlic and catfood cooking people below me. People that also like to have loud foreign conversations in bed, which I could guiltily enjoy if I knew what they were saying.

I hope I didn't make you feel too ill, I mean I could have gone into how the Polish food obviously plays havoc with the intestines, because every morning there is a distinct whiff of.......... Yeah, I'll shut up now.

Making a stand, dancing carrier bags and all.

Firstly, what the hell is going on with my eyes in the left hand picture? Why do I look like someone just shoved a banana up my arse? I mean I got called 'chinky eyes' at school, but Jesus, what's with the squiffiness? That's not a good look to have, it'll knock the patronising sympathy up 100%. Bah.

A couple of evenings ago, I attended the most bizarre contemporary dance performance I have ever seen. I've seen a lot of contemporary in my time and consider myself to be fairly well educated and experienced in the arts, but NEVER have I witnessed anything quite so 'off the planet' as this show. A show which included mastabation with a whisk, dancing with eggs in mouths, cracking said eggs over each other's faces, followed by a topping of sieved flour, a soloist dancing inside a zip up bag and a duet incorporating twenty five filled carrier bags. Even now I still can't comprehend what I witnessed and although I enjoyed it immensely, the memory will scare the bejesus out of me for all of time.

Whilst driving home, we spied a 'stag do' spilling out onto the pavement, being the megasauras mouth that I am, I hung out of the window and screamed "Giv's a smile boys!" whilst managing to snap a moving shot, which was followed by the whooping delight of a highly intoxicated herd of testosterone jostling males.

I have no idea about the straw up her arse, in fact just thinking about it, for some reason, makes me thirsty, is that very wrong?

By the time we got home, Rach and I had helplessly passed into a parallel universe of stupidity. Armed with cameras, we attempted to recreate some typical slutty moody teenager, My Sp@ce type photos. Here I am attempting the 'seductive groping of wall' pose...

....which kind of came out as a blurry 'Stevie Wonder desperately trying to find the light switch' pose, (not that Stevie Wonder has any use for a light switch or actual light for that matter, ahem).

In other news, I hate families. Not that I actually 'hate' my family, I just sometimes hate the hard work and stress of having to pretend to like members of my family. Explanation as follows;

1. A soon to be ex sister-in-law, who has never, in ten years, made an effort to integrate into our family unless in need of babysitting services, has suddenly started to send me over friendly emails almost daily asking that we do 'this' and 'that' together. I recognise that she has no biological family of her own to speak of and due to finding herself alone for the first time in a long time, is more than likely feeling insecure and lonely. Now it's all very nice that she wants to strengthen our relationship, but where the fuck was she when I was in hospital for 9 months? When did she ever remember my birthday and actually buy me anything when I have never forgotten hers? When did she ever include me in conversation with her friends instead of practically ignoring me at any of the parties they used to hold as a couple?

Don't get me wrong, when we do chat we get on great, have the same sense of humour and have been known to sit up all night in hysterics, but only when we have been thrown together in circumstance. She's never actually rung me to chat, or asked me over as a friend, but now it seems she is gunning for a best buddy. I will give her the benefit of the doubt, I would like to spend more time with her, but I can't help but wonder if her motive is to periodically grill me on the latest developments of my brother's new relationship. Cynical? Much?

2. I am no longer acknowledging my Grandad. Now you may automatically judge me as a bitch, (in most cases you would be correct, heh), but it's not like he just disapproved of my dress sense, or said something highly racist (something he does often, which annoys the crap out of me, even though I know it is a result of his generation).

My Grandfather isn't the nicest of people, in fact, being blunt, he is dam right sly, rude, a shamefaced liar and the biggest snob since Mrs Bucket. I love him, he's my grandad, but I just don't 'like' him very much. There is a lot of shit that has gone before that has turned an awful lot of the family against him. Even his only child has trouble being civil.

When I was healthy, I was the apple of his eye, but since then, he has nothing but shame for me and there isn't a time I can think of when I've visited, that he hasn't cuttingly (is that a word?), criticised the way I look in some way.

A month or so ago, I was in his lounge filling up his pill dispenser, when his helper arrived. A few years back, the first thing he would have done is show me off. "This is my granddaughter, isn't she pretty, she's such a lovely lass, she's a PA don't you know!", but nowadays, he will do anything possible to avoid me being seen by someone he is trying to impress, (that would be absolutely anyone outside of the family) and therefore immediately steered the woman into the kitchen before she became aware of my prescence. Being pretty pissed by this behaviour, I followed them into the kitchen and introduced myself, which was when he said something that made me feel like complete and utter shit...

"Oh this is my granddaughter, you wouldn't recognise her from a few years ago, she used to be so pretty and slim with long blonde hair and she had a really good job too". The helper, obviously somewhat embarrassed replied, "well she IS pretty and slim", "humph" Grandad said, "you must be joking!" and that, right there, is when something inside me snapped.

I mumbled a goodbye and promptly left, got into my car, thumped the steering wheel and started to cry. I know I'm not the person I used to be, I'm VERY aware of that fact, doesn't he think I live with that everyday? But I still have the same face, I still have the same body only a few pounds heavier, I am not less of a person for not being able to work, am I?. I aggressively rammed the car in drive and sped off, but before I reached the end of the road, I found myself yelling at the top of my lungs, "FUCK YOU! I'M NOT TAKING THIS ANYMORE, JUST FUCK YOU!".

So that was the straw that broke the camels back and even though I momentarily rethink my decision out of guilt because he is 86, I know deep down his behaviour can't be blamed on his age, he's always been this way and quite frankly, I'm sick of it and I don't know if he should be allowed to get away with it any longer.

One thing I certainly do know though, the saying 'blood is thicker than water' is mostly a stinking pile of crap.

Where I accidently add to the homeless population

Today, it appears I may have accidentally got my neighbours evicted. But it really wasn't my fault, but I kind of feel happy, but also a hard hearted cow. I am all for being smug after getting people into trouble, but homelessness? Yeah, that plays a little on the conscience.

Ok, so the story is a long one, so grab a cuppa and put your feet up, or alternatively, if you don't like your coffee with cold skin on the top, them skip this, cos the tale is complicated and I am prone to rambling, which is probably something I don't have to tell you. I might also be doing that just a little right now.

Firstly, these pointers are important within the story, they are as thus...

1. I share a long entrance hall with the flat next door.
2. The entrance way is carpeted
3. The entrance way legally belongs to the flat next door, I only have right of way.
4. The neighbours have a joined IQ of 5. Ok, that's mean, lets say 7.
5. The neighbours have a six week old baby.
4. Although this is not a photo of the tenants, all you have to do is change the hair colour and add baseball caps, cos they really do, no shit, resemble these people...

So, a year ago, a lady in her late 30's moved in, let's call her Mildred. Mildred had just separated from her husband. On first meeting Mildred, I quickly realised that she wasn't the brightest button in the tin, but pleasant non the less. She informed me that she had two children, who she had been refused custody of, but whom would be staying at weekends. All was good.

A month later a man also moved in (let's call him George), with a big arsed, hair shedding dog in tow, (a dog that howls the whole fucking time they are out). This was when the ridiculous base enhanced rap music started, the kind that drowned out my TV and turned my coffee into frothy cappucino. George must be near on 40 and at first I found it pretty amusing that the music would only start up just as Mildred was going out the front door and then stop abruptly as her car drew up outside on her return, like the actions of some rebelling hormone ravished teenager. Yeah, well, the amusement soon wore off. But I, being a tolerant person, (and don't you ever think otherwise), let it go, as he had always been very polite and chatty and I pretty much liked them both as neighbours go.

Then there was, and still is, the matter of the hall carpet. I have a cleaner, because I am a lazy arse, who I pay to hoover the hall weekly, even though that area isn't my responsibility. George and Mildred however, don't even posses a hoover, but DO posses a big hairy dog that sheds like a mother fucker and likes walkies over the fields twice a day. I get to see the actual colour of the carpet for a couple of hours every Tuesday and then, well, it mysteriously turns into shag, muddy wet dog smelling shag. Super.

Also, about 9 months ago, the 3 inset lights at the end of the hall stopped working. These would be the lights that enable me to find the keyhole in which to insert my key, when returning of an evening, (sometimes early morning) of entertainment. Oh yes and the they also enable me to see where I am going without falling and cracking my pelvis in two. Dad changed the bulbs, but still no light, it was determined that the electrics must be buggered, and I asked George and Mildred if they would please let their landlord know so that he could arrange to get it fixed. They never let him know, it never got fixed, for they are as thick as shit and the landlord's number is probably 897989, which poses a problem when you can only count up to 6. (Yes that was mean, but I won't take it back because my god, they have earned it).

I am now getting to the core of the story, no really, I am. I AM! SHUTUP!

On Saturday morning, whilst getting into my car, George shouted something to me from the window. I didn't hear what he said, but he sounded mad, but before I could say pardon, he had gone. He then proceeded to what seemed like, purposely slam the doors all day and I had no idea why. Well all was soon to be revealed.

Last week, unbeknownst to me, my mother rang next doors landlord to request he get the lighting fixed in the hall. (This guy is the nicest man ever, he has been nothing but helpful and obliging to my situation since he bought the property). During the conversation, the landlord asked if the tenant was ok. Now all it took for world war III to break out, was this simple innocent answer....

Well generally they are fine, apart from one little niggle, they have never hoovered the hall carpet, it would just be nice if they shared the responsibility, especially considering their dog and the pram is in and out a lot.

Apparently there was silence on the other end of the phone for a good 10 seconds, before he exploded into an incoherent rant, that included the words.. They?.... Contract for only one! Dog?.... No pets allowed! Baby?.... What baby?!

So you see, it was an accident, I had no idea Mildred was meant to be alone, who am I, Uri fucking Geller!

Fast forward to this morning. I'm on my way out, when Mildred catches me and asks for a word. She is non too happy obviously and informs me that she has had a phone call from her landlord giving her shit and that he said my parents had rung and complained about "my friend that has been staying", (staying my arse!) and "the dog that she is looking after whilst her friend is on holiday" (for a fucking year!) and that next time, can I go directly to her with my complaints. I am, of course, taken aback as I had no idea my parents had contacted him and promise to talk to them, which I do and then knock on her door and inform her that no, they did not complain about the dog OR the so called friend that is staying, they only rang to ask him to fix the lights and mentioned the hallway carpet and that the words dog and they were mentioned, which was enough to let their cat out of the bag.

Mildred then invited me in to speak with her and George. Part of me wondered if I would come out alive. We talked, we discussed the misunderstanding and how unfortunate it was, we shared a ciggy and I petted the dog, they forgave me and obviously warmed to me. And then......... they started telling me things that they really shouldn't be telling someone who had contact with their landlord and had just landed them in trouble. These things included the words ... drugs and where can I get some? Baby drug withdrawal syndrome problems and Landlord is visiting to talk next week so George and dog will be going to stay with friends to as to further deceive him...... See? Thick as shit on top of shit.

I left in disbelief and an hour later received a call from my parents, which was when they told me the landlord had rung them again telling them that Mildred had promised him the friend and dog did not actually live there, to which my father replied something along the lines of, "total bollocks", to which the landlord replied something along the lines of, "me no like liars, eviction or maybe you spy to see if man and dog return and let me know in a month and I take to court for deception".

So yeah, it seems they are in for a shock, especially as Mildred had said "It'll be fine, I'll put the landlord straight I feel better now". Oops. They are going to hate me. H.A.T.E M.E.

And that is the end of the story, thank you for staying with the uncontrollable rambling. Hello? Hello?

Sod Snakes on a Plane

Wednesday evenings are a permanent fixture in my weekly social diary, along with Monday night's Origami in Lotus Position Social Club and Friday afternoon's Underwater Basket Weaving classes.

The evening starts off with some slap up grub, (current eatery of choice being Frankie and Benny's, where the bacon cheese burgers do hover afore thee ringing out the Messiah's Hallelujah Chor, whilst their halos doth shinith). To gain the fullest of satisfaction, a full days starvation is advised, only then, after deliriously sucking on a napkin whilst waiting for the offering to be delivered, can the explosive taste be fully appreciated. The downside of this method being the 23hr period of stomach shrinkness, which invariably leads to a full on battle with a marble chocolate sundae. A battle of pain, but one which is never lost, making it all the more victorious.

Once the gift has been received, you may think Rachel and I coolly and confidently strut into the nearest cosmopolitan cocktail bar, or maybe slip into a renowned artsy cinema to drink up a European classic with subtitles, but you would be wrong. Oh so wrong. For we are far classier than both these options could offer and as the evenings excitement builds to a crescendo, there is only one place in the world that can satisfy our craving....

Asda. Yes, late night shopping in a supermarket, it's where all the coolest kids are hanging. They learnt it from us, we are the original, 1986 and sweet sixteen, 'living it up' masters.

Never has there been a place where fun is more plentiful and free...

Albinism

Oh good lord, it has been a day of having to come to terms with an aging body. But I am remarkably perky considering the angle from which I unavoidably viewed my various 'bits' today. Maybe I just don't actually care anymore, maybe next week when that mole appears, sprouting a super length bristly hair, I will just glance casually and sigh, before exiting the bathroom to find my slippers and stretch leggings and then I will get the cats, cats everywhere, that shit and piss behind the sofa, which I won't mind, because *hey I don't have to look a it and what the hell are smelling salts for if not to mask the stench of ammonia?"

I traveled up to Bristol's Frenchay Hospital today for a barrage of highly tedious tests, that included nerve function, which basically consists of having jelly smeared all over my body, (it's really not as erotic as one would think, honestly). I have had 2 showers since and still have a mildy sticky residue, I might actually hunt out my lint covered jumpers and roll all over them, you know, resourcefulness and all.

Later in the day Rachel cut and coloured my hair, (caramel and chestnut streaks if at all interested) in which she made a startling discovery;

"OMG I see grey"

"Fuck off"

"No really, I do"

"You ARE joking right?"

"Nope, grey, right here......... and here...... Oh and..."

"You are such a liar"

"Un huh, ok" *Yanks hair out*

"What the Hell?!"

"There, see? Pure white"

"Lord have mercy!! Our father, who art in heaven......"

I'm ok with it now, really. Kind of.
