She said I had great stomach muscles *wink wink*
Last week I had a physiotherapy session at one of the local hospitals. Physio isn't new to me, in fact I thought my life had been all physio'd out, but apparently not, apparently, because I fail in the movement department, I need someone from the NHS, who is poorly paid, to kick my arse every couple of years.
Whilst sitting in the waiting room, something dawned on me; physiotherapist stereotypes. I shall further explain said various stereotypes by usage of a list, because lists make me feel important;
1. Young, blond, pretty, sickeningly smiley, athletic physiotherapist.
2. Middle aged version of the above, but having developed silly 'there there' voice as if talking to a Chihuahua physiotherapist.
3. Should have retired years ago, pursed lipped, wart faced, scraped back hair bun, matronly with a huge bust physiotherapist.
4. Shorts in winter, polo shirt, short and stocky, spiky haired, hairy legged, walking like a bloke........... errrrr... masculine physiotherapist.
Every physio department I have frequented, (and there have been a few), have had at least one of each of the above and what also dawned on me whilst picking at my cuticles in that waiting room, is that I ALWAYS get the ........... masculine type.
*Masculine physio walks into area reseambling a builder who is about to shit bricks, not lay them*
'Not me please not me please not me please..'
"Jilly Mcwheelielegs?"
"Aww come on lady .... err .... person....dude? Not again, you gotta be kidding me?!"
It's not that I'm a homophobe, in fact homophobia is something I feel very strongly against, it's just that I'm starting to get a slight complex. What is it about me that leads to the lesbian physio every time? Can it be just coincidence? Or, is it that my hospital records say 38 years and single? I mean it wouldn't be the first time someone had made that assumption based on my 'not and never have been' marital status. I'm pretty sure they don't go through the files and get 'dibs' on patients, but really, one has to wonder!
Anyway, she was a lovely woman, very witty and completely scathing of the NHS, which was almost enough to make me want to tongue her ...... almost.
