When your ankles and feet have blown up to the size of your thighs...
When you are taking more morphine a day than you have had altogether in the last month...
When you have not *ahem* opened your bowels *ahem* for over a week, because all the medication bungs you up and the nurse is threatening an enema....
When you had to suffer the indignity of 2 nurses giving you a bed bath and making a thorough job of washing your *bits*...
When the nurse left behind the face mask and tubing that belongs to the nebuliser and your mad friend comes over for the evening to cheer you up...
It is not big and it is not clever for your friend to blow smoke down the tube, that is attached to the mask, that you are wearing, so that you can get a tiny inhale of nicotine, all the while laughing hysterically at the ridiculousness and irony of the act, because today has been unbelievably bizarre, plus you have not had a ciggy and IT IS KILLING YOU!
No, it is not clever, it is sick........... But still you laugh, because you have no morals or conscience and it is what you need to do more than anything in the world right now.
